Martin Williamson Ltd formed on 1st January 2025 to replace Williamson Partnership LLP after the retirement of Tony Williamson. We had been partners for twenty two years. The practice has operated continuously since 1966, working from the same building in Weybridge until December 2023.

I am a chartered Structural Engineer and a Member of the Institution of Structural Engineers.

I have worked for twenty five years designing a mixture residential, commercial and light-industrial buildings. The majority of my work has been the design of new-build houses or alterations to existing houses.

I can also undertake structural surveys and provide reports, for example during home buying.

Recently I have been engaged to check existing roofs for the installation of solar panels.

STRUCTURAL DESIGN
I prepare structural calculations and drawings either for new-build or for alterations.
I have a wide experience of domestic structures and I'm familiar with typical structural arrangements in traditional houses, in particular those in South West London and Surrey.

REPORT WRITING
I carry out structural reports required during house purchases, for example in the case that a Homebuyer Survey or lender's valuation has highlighted an aspect that needs a report from a Chartered Structural Engineer.

SITE VISITS
I often visit site to assist the contractor or to inspect reinforcement prior to pouring. I also visit if I have been asked to inspect and report on a structural problem.

DRAFTING AND DETAILING
I work in AutoCAD and prepare general arrangement and detail drawings, including reinforced concrete detail drawings and bending schedules where required.

RESIDENTIAL PROPERTY

The greater part of my work has always been on residential properties. I have been the structural design engineer for many one-off new-build houses, mostly in Surrey and Hertfordshire. I have also designed the structural elements for substantial refurbishment projects, including in central London.

Much of my work is preparing structural information for submission to Building Control for alterations and extensions to existing houses.

COMMERCIAL PROPERTY

Whilst residential property has made up most of my work, I have also designed new commercial buildings, new mixed residential and commercial buildings are advised on the renovation of existing commercial buildings.
